Marco Ravasio was born 8th of December, 1971 in the province of Lecco, Italy. He started
his career in 1987 as a Comis Cuisine at the Imperial Palace in St. Margherita Ligure where
he was trained by Chef de Partie and Garde Manger Michele Siacca and Executive Chef Corrado
Corti.
Since then, Ravasio has been working seasonally at the Imperial Palace Hotel in St. Margherita
and Cortina d’Amprezzo Hotel in L’Ancora and Malgalareto gaining experience as Comis
de Cuisine in all the different kitchen departments until he finally started as a Chef de
Partie Entremétier at the Congress Center Hotel, a position challenging and improving his organizational skills due to the busy level of operations.
Continuing his successful career he moved up to Chef de Partie in at the famous Milan Trattoria
Giannino an establishment with a history stretching as far back as 1899, giving him an
excellent opportunity to refine his techniques in more sophisticated fine Italian cuisine under
the direction of Executive Chef Enrico Fonio. By this time Ravasio was already a member of
the kitchen brigade of Gualtiero Marchesi’s Bistro in Piazza uomo where he was working
with Executive Chef Massimo Meloni in consultation with master Marchesi himself.
Feeling it was time to expand his horizons and get experience and inspiration overseas, Ravasio started his culinary career experiences outside of Italy with the Islands of Jersey, St.
Martin in the Caribbean and on to the famous Café Lido at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bermuda.
In 2000 he settled down in Thailand, now himself an Executive Chef, Marco Ravasio is keeping up the tradition of refinement
and quality at the now quarter of a century old L’Opera Italian Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand.
